Fleming County Hospital and Meadowview Regional Medical Center Achieve Zero NHSN-Reported Hospital-Acquired Infections in 2025
February 18, 2026
Fleming County Hospital and Meadowview Regional Medical Center are proud to announce a major patient safety milestone: zero hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) reported to the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) for calendar year 2025.
This achievement reflects the hospitals’ unwavering commitment to patient safety, quality care, and infection prevention. Hospital-acquired infections are a critical national quality metric and eliminating them requires consistent adherence to evidence-based practices, rigorous monitoring, and a culture of accountability across every department.
“Achieving zero NHSN-reported hospital-acquired infections is an extraordinary accomplishment and a direct result of our team’s dedication to doing the right thing for every patient, every time,” said Trish Feilmeier, Interim Chief Nursing Officer for Fleming County Hospital and Meadowview Regional Medical Center. “This milestone speaks volumes about the vigilance, teamwork, and professionalism of our physicians, nurses, and support staff.”
The NHSN, operated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is the nation’s most widely used system for tracking healthcare-associated infections. Reporting zero HAIs demonstrates exceptional performance in infection prevention measures such as hand hygiene compliance, environmental cleanliness, safe device use, and adherence to clinical best practices.
“Infection prevention is not a single initiative—it’s embedded into how we deliver care every day,” said Kathy Vancampen, CEO and Market President of Fleming County Hospital and Meadowview Regional Medical Center. “Our teams continuously monitor outcomes, educate staff, and refine processes to ensure the safest possible environment for our patients.”
Both leaders emphasized that this milestone would not have been possible without collaboration across clinical and non-clinical teams, as well as the trust and partnership of the communities they serve.
Meadowview Regional Medical Center and Fleming County Hospital remain committed to sustaining these results while continuing to invest in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and staff education.
